American Idol Season 6 cast-off Melinda Doolittle. 29 years old, eliminated just a week into the Idol Finale. Personally, I find it a bit senseless to vote off perhaps one of the best singers the show has produced.

I'm quite certain that Melinda has already forged a definite path for herself as an entertainer. I know she's gained a lot of experiences throughout the competition and she'll only get better with each performance. I'm sure that even after this elimination, she'll continue and make a name for herself as other past Idol cast-offs have done (take Chris Daughtry or Elliott Yamin for example). She'll be big outside of American Idol. The only difference is that American Idol isn't a stepping stone to fame for her. It was a journey she'd never soon forget. It was a journey to further her career as a singer; a journey that gave her all these unforgettable experiences.

Listening back to her past performances, I can only say this: "Even if Melinda lost on 'Idol', she's definitely made a name for herself with her big voice these past 11 weeks, and it's been a pleasure to have supported her this far into the competition." Who needs criticism? No matter what anybody says, Melinda will always be MY American Idol.

And I find that this continuous support for Melinda is strengthened by one thing I have recently found out as I was preparing her page for my website... We share the same God-given birthday of the 1st of December.
